(More customer reviews)This item was fun to have for a short time, but as soon as the warranty expres you can forget about any support on this product.My flip died while I was watching playback on one hour recorning of my deceased wife, and when I tried to contact Flip all I got was a brush off, they were not even willing to attampt to recover the recordings at my own expense.As soon as they saw that my warranty was kaput they stopped answering my emails.Never was able to get a phone number out of anyone so I could talk face to face.I now own another brand flip recorder that has a removable memory card.
I purchased the original Flip Ultra from Amazon.

(More customer reviews)i own this player and compared it with a samsung blu ray player, both connected via a HDMI cable to a samsung HDTV and to be honest with the exception of minute visual details this player and its upscaling ability is worth it. the blu ray costs over 300 dollars and this player made me realize blu ray still has along way to go to be worth the money, but until then buy this play, invest in a HDMI cable and enjoy crisper scenes and details and the new life this player brings to your "old" dvds.

(More customer reviews)I order this camera based on its features, some reviews and doing some research on the net. After a week of exploring its capabilities i found out that its 4 in 1 features are in med level in terms of quality and here it is:
1. as a Digital video(camcorder) - support only up to 10fps as a result the video is not smooth and zoom features are not available.
2. as a Digital camera - 2MP ok, the pictures are fine as long as you pay attention on the lens when taking pictures. no flash, no optical zoom only 2X digital zoom.
3. as a Voice recorder - its a fix sampling rate i don't know what it is. the quality of sound recording is low but you can save more space.
4. as a Web camera -capable only up 20 fps, just good enough for me.
Bonus features: as a removable drive, nice 1.5" LCD display, small in size, can be preview on TV, 2 AA batteries, plus its accesories and software package.
TAKE NOTE: use this camera only during the day or where there is sufficient light coz it has a very poor results in low light condition.
Anyway, who can expect professional results on a less than $150 camera? It's still recommended for enthusiast who's fun of capturing moments. Don't forget to include at least 256MB CF card.

I received the Flip UltraHD as a gift recently, so I will share what I have learned so far. It has 2 hours of recording time, I have not maxed out the time between downloading it to the computer. Downloading is easy, just pop the built in plug into a USB slot and you are good to go, no cord to look for. It also has a HDMI output so you can hook it up to a high definition TV. Now having said that, the camera only has a 2x zoom, and using the zoom at all does deteriorate the picture. For me, I use the camera for filming family around the house, but if I filmed my sons football game, I would use a camera with a real zoom. This Flip is for the close up every day life you want to preserve. It has a decent size screen built in, larger than the screen on the first Flip which my friend has, and the size of the unit is large. In my case, the picture did not look that different. If I was buying one for myself, I would take a look to see if the first Flip is cheaper, abut I hear it uses the battery faster. The one I have has a rechargable battery, but you can also pop in AA batteries if you prefer. My digital still camera uses those special disposable camera batteries, and they are a rip-off at $15 and don't seem to last but a few weeks. But it is still small enough to fit in my back pocket. Using the device is pretty intuitive, not an overload of controls and buttons, and any kid could operate it. For the size and the price, I think it is a pretty good gadget. But I can imagine in two years what they will have.

Simple to use it gives you a very intuitive control panel based on sliding bars in which you can preview adjustments to your footage which are done on the fly without the need to render scenes, AMAZING!!!

This is PERFECT for anyone who wants to do editing and is concerned about quality of color and speed, for the novice it is an incredible gizmo that will restore your VHS tapes to a state close to the original fixing midtones, highlights and shadows on the fly, it lacks additional software to perform global color adjustments such as gammasbut hey, for the price and unless you own sophisticated software, hardware and are in the editing business this is MORE than you need.

(More customer reviews)Wow. Let me just say that this product exceeded my expectations. Right out of the box, it took me about 3 minutes to get everything plugged in and the software installed. I was watching TV on my Mac literally 5 minutes after it arrived at my door. The unit comes with a free subscription to the online TitanTV program guide. The TitanTV is half the reason I'm so excited about this product. It is freakishly easy to use and you can literally set it to record a program with one click. -ONE CLICK!!! The TitanTV service somehow syncs itself up with the EyeTV program and everything is very seamless, elegant, and EXTREMELY easy to use. I was completely blown away by how easy everything is. I was ready to sit down and take a while to read manuals, etc. and try to figure this sucker out, but there's really nothing to it!

The picture quality also surprised me. I am running it on a new iMac G5 (17", 1.8ghz, 1GB RAM, 64MB Graphics), and everything LOOKS GREAT! (even at full screen) I haven't recorded anything yet, but it does record at a lower resolution, so recorded shows will probably look slightly less stunning at full screen, but I have high hopes.

Overall, I am extremely pleased. And would recommend it to anyone who is already interested enough to read this review. BUY IT! You WILL NOT be disappointed! Do keep in mind, however, that results will vary depending on the machine you are running it on. My iMac does the job fine, but a G4 Mac might struggle a bit...

(More customer reviews)I've had this unit for a few weeks, and I've been experimenting with camera positions and lighting. This Security DVR has worked perfectly.
All features work, as advertised, and are well implemented.

PROS:
-Motion detection with pre-record (pre-time stamps motion event) works great. I really like the function which allows you to fast forward at 32x, and the unit slows right down to 1x right before a car or person walks on my property, then resumes FF when it leaves the frame. I can spend 20 minutes after work, and see every person or vehicle that has entered my property for the past 9 hours I've been at work. Very cool!
-I can access the unit from any computer in my house. The software included allows access to the DVR menu functions as well. Streaming video over my LAN has been glitch free and solid full motion. I haven't tried accessing the box away from home yet. I will update my review if there are any problems with that. (I doubt there will be. The firmware and software have been well de-bugged, for the most part)
CONS:
I only have a couple of gripes about the unit:
-The menu is a little hard to understand, and you have to experiment with certain menu functions to discover what they actually do.(This is obviously a translation issue.) Once you have figured out what does what,
the menu settings are easy to use, and well implemented.
-The compression used by the unit does degrade the resolution a bit, when streaming or recording. Not by much though. The streaming video has very little degradation, and the recorded video is a little worse, with some slight pixelation on the "Best" setting. I understand that this is a compromise between picture quality and disk space, however, I wish it had a better resolution recording option. Large disk drives are relatively cheap anyway. This may become an issue if you are trying to identify a face in the distance. We'll see . . .

Overall, I'm extremely pleased with this Security DVR.
It is well built, and does pretty much everything I would want.
It would be nice to have the USB Flash Drive backup on this one,
but you have to move up to a more expensive model to get that functionality.
For the price, this DVR is an absolute BARGAIN! I've seen VERY similar Security DVRs for $180 and up. (sans drive)

I highly recommend this unit.

(More customer reviews)I'm sure all of us have been curious on just how good a pocket camcorder could be. The answer is: not that good. I'll start off by saying I don't own this, but I have used it to film a school project, which equates to use in a variety of conditions. The camera is nice and compact, and has great battery life (it uses 4 AAAs). It has 4 functions (video, photo, microphone, and review). The wheel for changing this is right above the battery cage (this'll be important in the ergonomics section). Now, let us start with the review. Let's break it down.

VIDEO (3.5/5)- It can shoot in 320x240 resolution and 640x480 resolution. Very small by today's standards (SD now goes up to 720x480 while HD starts off at 1280x720). I'd give the video quality a 3.5 out of 5 (at top performance). It works great in sunlight and bright light conditions, but it is horrible indoors or darkness. Even with sunlight coming in through the windows, the camera simply could not "see" the people in the room! Use it at daytime, outside only. Another thing to note is that there is no image stabilizer. If your hand is shaking, then it's there to stay.

PHOTO (3/5)- It can take photo stills (at resolutions of 640x480, 1280x690, 1600x1200, 2048x1536, 2592x1944) and is capable of taking flash pictures. There is a self-timer, and I believe that's pretty much it for photo-taking functions (there aren't even any preset functions). Once again, great in sunlight/bright light conditions, but I wouldn't recommend using it under any other conditions. I'd give this function a 3 out of 5.

MICROPHONE (2.5/5)- Ah, the microphone. It would work fine for use as a tape recorder (speaking into it), but not for recording music, lectures, or a speech. It just doesn't cut it. The microphone tends to pick up wind, and sadly it doesn't pick up audio that well. Recorded sounds lost about 50% of their clarity even when the source was only 10 feet away from the camera! For the sake of comparison, the microphone is about as strong as that of a digital camera that can take videos.

DURABILITY/BATTERY LIFE (3/5?) - I haven't dropped this or anything, so I don't know what to say about durability. It does, however, have a great battery life. Even with partially used batteries, the camera withstood 4 hours of constant use.

ERGONOMICS (2/5)- Without a strap, it's rather difficult to use this with only one hand. Although all the buttons are located close to each other, they're not placed in the greatest places. Especially when lacking a strap, you'll probably have to prop this on a tripod or operate it with two hands in order to press the buttons while filming. So, ironically, this pocket camera can't be operated with one hand.

So, this brings me to my overall rating of 3 out of 5. This camera is only useful as a casual camera- maybe for your younger son or daughter who wants a video camera, or for around the home, NOT for vacations or trips to Disneyland. If you want a pocket-sized camera good enough for daily and all-purpose use (is there even one that exists?), I suggest you keep looking.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this player almost a month ago and I could not have made a better choice.I work in a electronics store and had the option of buying virtually any player on the market but I like the fact that the screen is very large as a ratio of the player size and it's compact flash media, while not being as enermous as a 60Gb hard drive is very inexpensive and readily available.I purchased two 2Gb cards to supplement the included 512mb card that the X2400 comes with although I'll probably buy more since I'm finding more and more movies that I'd like to carry around with me.
As a media player the x2400 has a large easy to read display and a thoughtfully designed menu system. MP3 files, JPEGS and AVI files are all accessed through the "library" file and can be paused, rewound or fast forwarded through.The voice recorder with built in mic and some of the other more fluff functions I have yet to use but the quality of audio and video is excellent either through the built in speaker or through my headphones.
It is video recording though that really shows the x2400 off to full advantage.The SUPPLIED AV cables can be attached to a TV, camcorder, digital camera or dvd player and record any amount of programing up to the limit of your media card in real time.Most of my Dvd collection is encrypted and so DVD ripping software like Nero just sits and spins but with the x2400 I can record the DVD's into MP4s and watch them on the go.I did pay for them after all and I am glad to get the chance to actually veiw them somewhere other than my living room.
Pros:Light weight but sturdy construction, big, bright screen, good quality audio and video, awesome recording capabilities and cheap readily available media.
Cons: Batteries are replaceable but not yet available for purchase from RCA, screen and case are highly attractive to fingerprints and smudges, battery life is great on audio but video will take a battery from full to dead in 6 hours.Battery is supposed to charge from USB but mine does not

All in all this little guy is a fantastic sleeper product, seemingly overlooked in favor of higher capacity hard drive based players and the cheaper non-expandible flash units.This product is brand new as of the time that I write this review so only time will tell wether it will catch on and get the notice that it deserves.

(More customer reviews)Product at the moment gets only 2-stars cause I'm still reviewing it! My unit was DOA! I could not get the tiny record switch to operate the camer to work! Manual is cryptic at best! Also my first GSI arrived with manual and mini CD drivers etc and all accessories EXCEPT the DC car charger plug shown in the product photos. If you show what's in the box and it's not there when it arrives then 'hey I say I got robbed!'

However Amazon gets 10-stars plus for their no hassle returns and shipping me out another GSI camera overnight(N/C) immediately so I could use the GSI on my trip! WOW! I guess Amazon wants to keep their customers happy and repeat biz! They get my vote 100%!

My second GSI arrived today but without the manual or CD/SW&drivers! ugh! I should have kept them from the first shipment? I'm now off to see if there's any support info/drivers on the web? I guess for the price $60I'm asking a lot ...a user's manual and software to use it w/my PC like the features touted.

Stand by I'm not giving up friends! if I can figure out how to get the video out of this thing I'll post some video files! Sometimes there's good products out there in spite of their Q/A and marketing ...more review coming =D

About the TEST VIDEO it was shot from the head band while mounted on my head ...which brings an issue: to turn the unit off and on you have to unscrew the rear cap! This is impossible to do if mounted in the head band. Also the elastic band covers up the buttons/LEDs so it makes the pause/record button hard to use while on your head! Not a show stopper but I thought I'd point this out!

No manual or support info! Argh! The test run with this camera was just OK! @ 24fs 640X480 video looks good enough for youtube or surveillance purposes. I would want to watch this for very long with the fixed focus, it's slow response to changing light conditions and audio quality is too bassy and low quality ...I'll give it maybe 3-stars. And Maybe for it's size and the all the accessories that come with it(if you're lucky enough and get everything promised?) I give the 4-stars.

No idea on how long the battery lasts yet. But based on my 1.5-minute test clip that was 50MB you should be able to get almost an hour onto a 2GB microSD card! BTW this camera chops the files up into 1-2 minute individual files. Soo if your action shot happens to fall between the 2-files so be it! Oops! Donno if I can change this without a manual I'm in the dark!!

For now I'm off to climb a 14er and my goats will have a camera mounted to his saddle ...we'll see what results we get. I may return the GSI camera when I get back or not? I'm still optimistic it'll do a reasonable job of catching action otherwise missed!

Even after following instructions (as best as you can) camera only works when it wants. Have tried everything. Just a horrible buy. Also purchased the remote key fob camera (only 4GB) which is an excellent buy, worked right out of the box without an issue. Until the seller figures how to properly translate the instructions for this pen I would not buy this item. You will find yourself looking to return this item like myself after numerous hours of frustration.

(More customer reviews)I bought this camera for 25.00 at Walmart on close out.My Cannon died and I needed a video camera to finish a job and I was really short on cash.I did not expect much out of a 25.00 digital camera.I was only using it to catch images, not sound and if it would have shot an hour worth of video and then disintegrated in my hands, I would have been okay.Unfortunately, this camera was not up to these lofty goals.Before the batteries even died the thing tells me the memory is full, even when it is not.The stud to attatch it to a tri pod fell out.LOL, the only thing more infuriating than this camera is the software which comes with it.It will not install cleanly, scattering files all over your computer....and when you are forced to use this hideous software it is guaranteed to freeze your computer up.So, if like me, you were forced by circumstance to use this peice of garbage I have these tips:
1. Epoxy the stud in place.
2. Don't even bother with the software.Yeah, the manual is on there, but it is of absolutely no use.
3. When the thing says the memory is full (internal memory), choose format memory card from the menu even if you don't have a memory card.Seemed to fix it for the time being.
4. Save up some money and buy something that works like it is supposed to.
