This cord works exactly for a Flip UltraHD Slide video (or I'm sure other Flips) to connect to a flat screen 46" TV like our Samsung. You are able to view everything you see on the small Flip screen, on the big screen.

This is a pretty mediocre travel kit.The case is generic. Is this supposed to fit the flip slide?I don't think so.Everything is of the cheapest quality.I guess what you would expect when you receive 6 "items" for about $13.I would have given it 5 stars if they named it "mediocre Travel Kit."

This item was fun to have for a short time, but as soon as the warranty expres you can forget about any support on this product. My flip died while I was watching playback on one hour recorning of my deceased wife, and when I tried to contact Flip all I got was a brush off, they were not even willing to attampt to recover the recordings at my own expense. As soon as they saw that my warranty was kaput they stopped answering my emails.Never was able to get a phone number out of anyone so I could talk face to face.I now own another brand flip recorder that has a removable memory card.
I purchased the original Flip Ultra from Amazon.

The review I wrote below is one I posted for the same device in a single pack, this is a neat idea having two.
I received the Flip UltraHD as a gift recently, so I will share what I have learned so far. It has 2 hours of recording time, I have not maxed out the time between downloading it to the computer. Downloading is easy, just pop the built in plug into a USB slot and you are good to go, no cord to look for. It also has a HDMI output so you can hook it up to a high definition TV. Now having said that, the camera only has a 2x zoom, and using the zoom at all does deteriorate the picture. For me, I use the camera for filming family around the house, but if I filmed my sons football game, I would use a camera with a real zoom. This Flip is for the close up every day life you want to preserve. It has a decent size screen built in, larger than the screen on the first Flip which my friend has, and the size of the unit is large. In my case, the picture did not look that different. If I was buying one for myself, I would take a look to see if the first Flip is cheaper, abut I hear it uses the battery faster. The one I have has a rechargable battery, but you can also pop in AA batteries if you prefer. My digital still camera uses those special disposable camera batteries, and they are a rip-off at $15 and don't seem to last but a few weeks. But it is still small enough to fit in my back pocket. Using the device is pretty intuitive, not an overload of controls and buttons, and any kid could operate it. For the size and the price, I think it is a pretty good gadget. But I can imagine in two years what they will have.

RCA EZ201 Small Wonder 60 Minute Point-and-Shoot Camcorder (White) Review

RCA EZ201 Small Wonder 60 Minute Point-and-Shoot Camcorder

Ok, I was curious so I bought the Small wonder and the flip (FW160) to compare them side by side. The Small wonder does have the advantage of the SD card reader, plus the flip LCD.However, in dim lighting like around my house, the Small wonder has a pinkish/reddish look to the images (I tried two small wonders with same results). The Flip does do a better job in poor lit conditions color wise in my opinnion. You can see the small wonder gain up light more noticably when lighting gets darker, but the Flip did a smoother job at it and the image was brighter. The Flip also has a much brighter display that you can see much better outside.I wanted to keep the Small Wonder because of the adjustable LCD and the SD cards, but the resulting video with the red/pink tint in dim conditions was no good for me.But not all small wonder indoor video had the red cast, only with certain lighting conditions and it depended on what you subject was.People's faces ended up with a sunburn look inside in certain light angles.Outdoors it did great. The Small wonder's software was also a bit behind the Flip's.The Flips allowed a larger video window for playing back the video, it was also just a bit more user friendly (better video making software with music). I will say that the Small wonder does a good job of updating firmware etc.One other thing about the Small wonder I liked was it's usb connector was easier to connect to my PC because of it's location.I still think the small wonder does a good job, I just think the flip is slightly better image quality wise.Ok, I plugged them both into two different TV's.One was a small 20 inch and I will say they were both about the same (VHS quality was pretty good). You can notice that darker shots have artifacts/blocky but acceptable to me. I tried plugging them into a 50 inch plasma and must say the results are not too hot. While I could watch the videos, they were fairly poor (but this is probably expected for this type of mpeg4 camcorder).I plan to watch these videos on PC or smaller TV anyhow.I ended up keeping the Flip 60 minute version instead of the Small wonder.

I bought this item for my boyfriend a few days before christmas. It arrived just in time to wrap and give to him on christmas eve. He LOVES this video camera. He carries it around with him everywhere and is obsessed with recording everything. It's defiantly not high tech, but it's a good camera for the price. The only downfall for the camera is the fact that when you play the video you just recorded, you can't hear the sound.

Vivitar DVR650-BLK-WAL Digital Video Camera Review

Vivitar DVR650-BLK-WAL Digital Video Camera

I bought this camera for 25.00 at Walmart on close out.My Cannon died and I needed a video camera to finish a job and I was really short on cash.I did not expect much out of a 25.00 digital camera.I was only using it to catch images, not sound and if it would have shot an hour worth of video and then disintegrated in my hands, I would have been okay.Unfortunately, this camera was not up to these lofty goals. Before the batteries even died the thing tells me the memory is full, even when it is not.The stud to attatch it to a tri pod fell out.LOL, the only thing more infuriating than this camera is the software which comes with it.It will not install cleanly, scattering files all over your computer....and when you are forced to use this hideous software it is guaranteed to freeze your computer up.So, if like me, you were forced by circumstance to use this peice of garbage I have these tips:
1. Epoxy the stud in place.
2. Don't even bother with the software.Yeah, the manual is on there, but it is of absolutely no use.
3. When the thing says the memory is full (internal memory), choose format memory card from the menu even if you don't have a memory card.Seemed to fix it for the time being.
4. Save up some money and buy something that works like it is supposed to.

Got the product today and love it...It was half the price(maybe less) than the competitors products and has all the features I needed. This is a great mid price point camera. The quality is good and I am using it for blogging and direct video uploads to youtube. So far I have had absolutely no problem, and while the video upload quality is not as high as the larger camcorders in the 200-300 dollar range, this is perfect for on-the-go filming and pictures, with no headache from a complicated learning curve. I was looking for the smallest, most affordable point and shoot camera and definitely found it! With HD even! Will definitely recommend this to family and friends...worth the money.

Zoom Q3 Handy Video Recorder (Metal Blue) Review

Zoom Q3 Handy Video Recorder
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I think the past reviews are pretty slanted towards video enthusiasts and not audio enthusiasts, so I think the low ratings reflect that. That being said, yea, it's 640X480, but there's also nobody on the block offering a hi-fi audio recorder with video. If you know the parent company (Samson), then you know it's an audio company, not a video camera company, and their target audience is musicians who can see the usefulness of recording gigs and rehearsals.I know from experience in many groups that some of the best riffs and song ideas come from impromptu jam sessions that happen between tunes.By having this recorder running through the whole practice, I can now isolate those jams and play back the clip at home to transpose the parts, or I can simply throw the clip on YouTube if I like it as-is.The software it comes with is meant to be user-friendly and isn't trying to replace an expensive big-box video editor, it's there to make the editing process easy and quick. As a 19 year musician, I really find myself caring very little about video quality when I want to check out a new artist's clips on YouTube... and until this point, I've just put up with bad sound from standard handheld video recorders. Now I have a good solution to making the audio as hi-fi as possible in a convienient all-in-one solution. Will Zoom come out with an HD version of this? That seems pretty inevitable! But until then, I am very happy with this device and what it's meant for... high quality audio with decent video quality in a unit under $250.

PS- Does anyone really expect to get their high quality music video shot with a $250 handheld device ANYWAYS?Let's be realistic!Rent at least 4 or so $2k HD cams and run it through a real mixing board if you want your best bet! In the meantime, I feel this device will work great in getting all of those 'lo-budget/good audio' video clips up on YouTube!

Kodak Zi6 HD Pocket Video Camera Review

Kodak Zi6 HD Pocket Video Camera
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Zi6 is a clear competitor for the Flip Video Ultra Series Camcorder (and now the Flip Video Mino Series Camcorder). It has a USB arm that swings out, just as the Flip Video pioneered. It uses two AA batteries and has a very similar form factor. But along with the copycat vibe, Kodak's managed to do what other competitors (such as RCA) have pretty much failed to do.That is, they took a great idea like the Flip Video and made some excellent improvements.

The most notable improvement is the addition of HD video. It's not Full HD (1080p), but my opinion is that people only want that because it's advertised as better. And to be honest, a 1080p picture is very capable of being a much better picture, however when it comes to consumer camcorders (especially cheap ones like this) it's more of a bother than anything. Most computers, even some of the newest, have some difficult playing back, or at least importing, 1080p video. It's a lot of data and if you don't have a 23 or 24 inch monitor you probably don't have the adequate resolution to even watch it on your machine.Your TV may be able to handle it, but remember that these small camcorders must have small sensors.Packing a huge HD picture into a small sensor is tough.Even 720p doesn't look that good when the sensors are tiny. Here, my point is, don't discard the Zi6 because it records 720p video. It's a blessing, I promise.

That said, the picture quality still isn't great. It isn't bad either. It's better than what you'd expect from a device this tiny but it does suffer from some other issues that make the better-than-expected picture quality lose it's edge. For example, there is no stabilizer on this camcorder. That's not the sort of thing you come to expect with a cheap handheld, but it can be a problem when walking around or recording while on a moving vehicle.Generally it wouldn't be all that bad, but the Zi6 uses a sensor reminiscent of cell phone cameras.Along with other drawbacks I'll get to shortly, the picture wobbles the way many a cheap CMOS sensor does.Heavy motion recorded with this device can be a little hard to watch.Additionally, low light performance is bad.It never gets all too grainy but it does get blurry. In addition to the blur I can guess is due to a wide aperture and a poor auto-focus unit, the Zi6 reduces it's shutter speed greatly to compensate for the lack of light. This produces an exceptional amount of motion blur that is very undesirable and pretty much makes the device useless in such spaces. All the other drawbacks are tolerable for a camcorder of this class, but the motion blur makes me think iPhone camera. In fact, the video the Zi6 produces looks very much like photos from the iPhone.

But enough bad news.I don't want to give the Zi6 a bad reputation because there is a lot it does very well. When you're not wobbling around in the dark, the picture quality is surprisingly sharp.Highlights get blown out at times, but for the most part you can get a pretty nice picture from the device.Compression artifacts are to be expected and are certainly present, but they're not as bad as you may think. They're certainly more significant than, say, what you'd get with a Sanyo Xacti, but it's nothing too bad.Chances are home videographers won't even know.If you'd like to see for yourself, however, I've taken some samples and posted them in a link at the end of this review.

The feature set on the Zi6 is where the device really shines.HD video is certainly the selling point, but there are some delightful little surprises I wasn't aware of until the camcorder arrived.I'll start with the most useless so we can end on a good note. The camcorder actually sports a small zoom. It's digital zoom, though, and therefore completely useless in my book.I would have preferred they left it out entirely. The biggest surprise for me was macro focus.I'm not sure why Kodak thought to put it in a camcorder of this class, but it's certainly welcome.Youhave to get very close for it to work, but it's as easy as flipping a switch and getting yourself too close for comfort. While this isn't really a feature, Kodak's USB arm release is a button rather than a sliding switch (which you'll find on the Flip).I didn't think I'd ever have a preference for a USB arm-activating button but Kodak made it so comfortable and easy that I've been won over.Another wonderful feature is Kodak's approach to batteries with the Zi6.AA batteries are great because you can take a bunch and pick them up just about anywhere. The problem is that they're disposable. You could buy rechargeable batteries, but most people don't.Kodak saves you the trouble by providing you with two rechargeable AA batteries and a miniature charging station that plugs directly into the wall without a cord. It's smaller than most charging options, doesn't ruin your vacation if you leave it at home, and is environmentally friendly. The only thing that could make things any better would be the option to charge the batteries in the camcorder via USB.Of course, you can always pick up a pair of USB Cell AA Batteries and really make things easy for yourself.

While Kodak gives you a miniscule amount of internal memory (128MB), even that memory is mostly eaten up by the included software leaving you only 30MB of recording space (which translates to about 30 seconds of video).Clearly this isn't enough and you'll need to buy an SD or SDHC memory card to cope.Personally, I prefer the option to use external media because it's endlessly expandable and easy to replace.Nonetheless, when you get the camcorder out of the box and you can't record it's a little disappointing.Luckily I have an SD card graveyard, and I believe most people are used to buying additional cards, but with the Flip (and it's other competitors) setting a precedent for built-in memory I believe Kodak made the wrong choice. What would I have done?I would have included a 2GB SD card. It's cheap, gives you approximately 30 minutes of recording time and you're all set to go out of the box.Nonetheless, this is a small oversight and hopefully most people will either have a spare SD/SDHC card or know to order one when purchasing the camcorder.

One other nice little feature is the mode selection. The Zi6 is capable of not only standard 720p recording but also 720p at 60 frames per second. In addition, you can record in VGA (480p) as well as take photos. While I wouldn't necessarily recommend the photo mode, as the quality is pretty bad and there is option for using a flash in low light situations, it's nice to know it's there if needed.VGA is also nice if you need space or you just don't care about HD resolution for the moment. While I don't ever see myself using anything but the standard 720p mode, the other options are welcome additions as they could very well come in handy in certain situations.

Once you get down to recording, however, the camcorder is a breeze to use.If you're actually planning on using digital zoom it's very simple. You can simply push up or down to move forward or back (respectively).Changing modes is also very easy.Left or right shifts between HD, HD at 60 frames per second, VGA and photo modes. One of the unfortunate realities of the Zi6 is the inability to use the camcorder's playback features without tethering it to a television.Playback is very simple as well, but it must be plugged into a TV with one of the included cables. This doesn't bother me at all, as I could care less about watching videos on the camcorder, but I think I may be alone there. Many people like to see what they just shot, or their subjects do, and it's just not possible with the Zi6 as far as I can tell.Getting back to recording, however, there is really only one drawback and that is the screen. It's a decent screen and does fine indoors, but in heavy sunlight it's very difficult to see.The reflective plastic over it doesn't help matters as you may end up unable to even look at the dim screen in the first place if the sun catches the wrong spot and hits you in the eye.Nonetheless, with this sort of camcorder you generally understand what you're capturing without seeing the screen. It tends to record just about everything in front of itself as the lens is fairly wide.

Another minor but understandable drawback brings us to post production, if you will. The video you take with this camcorder doesn't work with Kodak's own multimedia digital frames. While this seems kind of silly and a bit of an oversight, the frames weren't designed to handle HD video. They top out at 480p.The unfortunate part is that the video specifications (in detail) for these frames are very hard to come by and many people with a frame and the Zi6 might expect a good partnership. You can put your video on the frame, but you'll have to convert it first. This will be, for most people, too much effort.Converting video isn't exactly the easiest and fastest thing, but Kodak's video codec support on the frame is limited and highly specific so you may find yourself trying again and again to get it just right.

Being a Mac user I haven't had a chance to try the included software. If I ran Windows I would appreciate how Kodak created a separate partition on the Zi6's flash storage to hold the software installation.Software being included on the camcorder isn't new to Flip owners, but the partition is.It's a welcome addition as it separates your ephemeral videos and photos from the software that you'll probably want to keep.To me, it's a...Read more›

This isn't a bad camera.I read the other reviews for this, but i have to disagree.I think those people made a very uninformed decision.Personally, I am the head of the video tech department at the local high school, and I believe this camera is everything it is advertised to be.You must understand that there is a big difference between a full-size camcorder and a pocket recording device, like this one.Typical battery life for a device like this is two hours; my Vivitar makes it three to four. The resolution is as it is advertised, nothing spectacular. The great feature on this is the infrared optical, which appears in black and white. It doesn't come in color; it wasn't meant to.It was simply meant to gather an image in the dark and it doest that just fine. The microphone is admittably weak though, and the students have needed a USB extension to connect to the computer because of the awkward positioning of the connector. The software is very quirky as well, but it almost always is with video equipment. This isn't the best camera ever, and there are definitely better options around that price. But the Vivitar NV gives you exactly what it advertises and the infrared is a unique and effective feature when used appropriately.
