This is the cheapest system I could find with 4 cameras.
The product is nice. Cameras has a very clear image.
Do not spect a professional system for this price. For example, when the cameras are conected and you move one of the cables on the connectors`s rack, one or more of the cameras can loose the image. That tell`s you that this is not a heavy duty equipment. But as long as the recording unit stays on a safe place and the wires well attached to a wall, the video stays very good.
The remote has to be kept 1 ft close to the unit to get it to work.

(More customer reviews)I mainly purchased this system because it was web ready with the ability to view live feeds from your smart phone.Setup was easy and I was viewing live video feeds through my iPhone in no time.Keep in mind; I have an IT background so it may be more difficult for others to setup.

The 4 cameras have quality night vision and built-in motion detection.As with the previous review, I could not get the system to send me email alerts FROM my Gmail account because Gmail requires encrypted authentication.The CV500 DVR does not support encryption.I got around this by using my [...] email which doesn't require encryption.This is only for sending email; you can still specify any valid email address as the recipient.I send the alerts to my Gmail account which is tethered to my iPhone so the results are still what I wanted.

Additionally, unlike the previous review, I was able to setup a motion schedule.You can setup 5 different schedules, each customizable by the hour for every day of the week.You have three recording options:Full Record, Alarm Record, and No Record.The "Alarm Record" records when motion is detected.Each camera can be set on a different schedule.I have my internal cameras set to record motion during the hours I'm normally at work.The external cameras are set on motion recording 24/7.You can also setup a motion grid for each camera.For example, one of my exterior cameras points down the driveway and into the street.I specify only to detect motion in my driveway so it doesn't record every time someone walks by on the sidewalk.

I didn't setup the FTP option but it works exactly like the email option.When a camera is in "Alert Record" mode, it will send video to your FTP site when enabled.

All in all, I'm very happy with the product.It took some readying to figure out the more complicated features (motion grid, schedules, etc), but everything was explained very well in the manual.

Here's what I like:
- Basically, it works
- It's compact
- The picture is clear
- With the infra-red camera I got to go with it, it sees at night!
- It works with up to four cameras (but you have to switch it between them - it won't scan)

Here's what I don't like:
- Reception is intermittent. The base unit appears to be VERY sensitive to orientation and proximity of other electronics.
- Without the cradle, it's not very stable on a desktop
- It comes with a cradle, but when it's in the cradle, the AC adapter doesn't work.The AC adapter only works plugged directly into the unit, and because of the location of the plug, it cannot be plugged in and sit in the cradle (which offers great stability) at the same time.I found an after-market AC adapter to work around this, but it should come with an adapter so you don't need to go buy one.

(More customer reviews)This is something I really have been wanting for a few years.I use to have a avermedia stand alone DVR which was good but limited features.I bought aGV-650 4 channel with BNC inputs.This was the best 300.00 i spent and its just what i needed.With this card it brought my 4 cameras around my house to life.There are so many features with this software that you'll probably never use some of them.The best thing i like about this card & software is the customization you can do.through the software you can pinpoint and mark the areas you want to pick up & record. you can also block out areas in your area you don't want to pick up.It also has advanced recording capabilities.You can also hook up some computer speakers and have a sound alert you when the cameras are activated.I have a 250gb hard drive and with the motion dtection set 24/7 I have only used 6 gb. in the last week. i'd say thats pretty good.The installation was very easy just plug the card into an empty PCI slot,hook up the cameras,load the software and your ready to go.this is my 3rd surveillancesystem and this is by far the best and very user friendly.With the GV650 system you have so many options & features.One of my favorite features is object tracking. Which you can set a certain area and it will record activity. So when i come home from work i can go to that module and review whos been around my property and have it on video. it also has face detection where it will lock onto the persons face.For the best picture quality i would reccomend a good graphics card,LCD screen with DVI inputs for the best picture possible.I hope this helps someone in there purchase.

(More customer reviews)Surprisingly versatile little unit.From ~4 weeks of use, everything seems to be working as advertised.The network and DDNS services seem to work well although installation across a wireless LAN was not for the faint of heart.(Hint - to use the client viewer within your LAN, use your internal IP address, not your DDNS.)I had to figure out port forwarding and related issues on my own, as I never did get a response from "customer service."Picture resolution (esp. IR) is a little grainy but within tolerance.The network client / viewer is a little simplistic and could use an upgrade.The software interface with the DVR is very elementary and could use a major upgrade, but again, within tolerance.I would probably buy it again.Overall I would give this unit a solid B, but I would give Lorex customer service a failing grade.

(More customer reviews)I first bought the LW2702 wireless system.It would not carry a signal 50 feet through my vinyl sided 1/2 inch sheathed split level.I called Lorex and they wanted to send me a new system right away.In the mean time, I looked over their website snd found this.I decided to try this system since Lorex was so suportive.It is even less expensive than the LW2702.

Four cameras, a 32 bit card and software that sends email alerts and a snapshot; plus you can access the system on the internet via a ddns net run by Lorex.THIS seemed to solve every concern I had; I did not just want to discourage and record, I wanted a system that would email us while we were on vacation and that we could use to call the police.

I decided to put 3 cameras in the house in logical traffic areas.These will be set to alert us.The fourth will go outside to capture vehicle traffic in the drive.

The software allows each camera to be programmed seperately; alert types, when to record, etc.You can also set up schedules for each camera alert and monitor function; for example, basement shop every night between midnight and 5 AM; bedroom hallway every workday from 8AM to 3PM; and all inside cameras for the two week vacation while leaving the driveway camera always set to record activity without sending alerts.Pretty powerful stuff.

You neeed to precisely follow the instructions for setting up internet access which allows you full control of your monitoring system.It took a day for the internet to register my system domain; but it works.

OK, the mediocre.Although Server 2000 is supported, it will not run on windows home server.Or, it must be installed on any 32 bit winXP or higher system.IT CANNOT run on 64 bit; needs a new card plus new software.

There are is one irksome quirk, which is worked around by using internet access.The program window has NO minimize/size/maximize/close icons in the upper right corner.Also not present with a right click.It settles in the upper left corner of your monitor and CANNOT be dragged someplace else (like your second monitor with extended desktop).SInce you access your system via IE (have not yet tired Firefox), you CAN relocate the display and controls since you simply drag the IE window where you want.

We live in a rural area with a lot of ground floor windows.I have always been skeptical of alarm company monitoring services.THIS system allows me to verify for myself what is happening and to call the police; or, since I have a computer based phone answering machine (left very loud so we can hear it thoughout the house) I can call the house and deliver a pretty creepy warning to whover is in the house.

Each camera is provided with a 60 foot video and power cable. This works well for my interior cameras, but I will need an extension for my driveway camera.

I only installed this last week; but I have tested it pretty hard and it works so far.Turns out I am glad the LW2702 did not work as expected; while it would have captured events the LW2702 cannot send out alertsnor provide the control of this system.The "downside" is that you have to run wires to your computer and you must have a computer that is always on and configured to reboot after a power failure.

Plus, you can check the house from ANY computer anywhere in the world either with IE or the provided client software.

AS far as I concerned, this beats paying a monitoring service $10 a month.I hope it continues to work.

Q-See QSD6204 4 Channel MPEG4 Network DVR Review

(More customer reviews)For someone who wants a basic standalone DVR system this is the one for you.I bought this DVR to tryout so that I can evaluate the quality of the systems from Q-see. This DVR is fairly straight forward to setup and I noticed that the board also had an IDE port which was not on the specs (not that it matters much since SATA is cheaper). It is constructed quite well and does not "feel" flimsy.

I did not test the networking functions yet but so far my only disappointment was the motion detection. It DOES NOT work well. Don't even bother trying all the different settings. I left mines on record all the time :(

A better buy would be the Q-See QSDR008RTC which is an 8-channel DVR and it is not that much more expensive.

Beware that this DVR DOES NOT have a VGA port so good luck trying to connect it to a computer monitor. Buy this product if you want to output to a TV alone (2 outputs are supported).

Q-See QSDR008RTC-500 8 Channel H.264 Real-Time Security DVR Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this DVR to record at my business. With 8 channels, I can capture video all around the outside and inside.

PROS:
- 240fps (frames per second) - means it records in real time where you see the full video
- REMOTE MONITORING - this is by far the most impressive feature! I can watch a live feed from home through the internet. The manual that was provided was a little tricky, but eventually I found my way around and got it to work. I can also access the recorded video from the DVR and watch videos from the entire month. It buffers just like a youtube video, and the GUI (graphical user interface) is relatively easy to navigate. Way easier than the actual DVR menus (see cons below about the DVR menus)
- 1 VGA output for computer monitor
- 2 RCA output (but you need a BNC connector for the back of the unit) for standard TVs.
- 8 alarm triggers - so you can attach motion sensors and stuff to trigger recording.
- easy to setup - just plug 'n' play and you're ready to go

CONS:
- Remote monitoring live video has a 5-6 second delay, and the video is choppy. It does not display real time remote video monitoring. This may be because I have slow DSL, which may affect the delay time, but the choppiness is still there when I'm connected directly through the router. It's not that bad I guess, it's better than no remote video at all. The audio is real time though.
- 1 audio recording channel. I use the microphone built in on one of my cameras and it sounds great. But there's only one channel for audio though, so I can't hear audio on any of the other channels. I can assign the audio to any of the other channels however.
- 1 audio output - there's 3 video outputs but only one audio out :(
- menus are a little weird, and you must right-click to exit the menu you are on (because some menus don't have an exit button). In the end, it's easy to get used to the menus, and just takes a little practice. With less than 3 days of using this DVR, I'm comfortable with using it
- Can't delete individual video files. If you catch something on video that you want gone, you can't delete it. You must either wait until the hard drive fills up and over-writes the video in question, or format the entire hard drive and erase everything. This is a good feature for some reasons, and bad for other reasons. Just make sure you watch what you do on camera if you're not the only one that can watch the videos.

NEUTRAL:
- I hear there's email notifications from this DVR, but I haven't tried it so idk if it works (yet)
- Mobile phone apps to watch the video feeds on your phone, but I don't have an iPhone, so idk if it works (yet)

In the end, this is a great starter DVR. If you're looking for a high end DVR with high def video and facial recognition software, this is not the right DVR for you. For a low price, this DVR records well, is very reliable, and has great features. It has a few drawbacks, but for the price it's still a very worthy DVR. I'm extremely satisfied (because I had a much worse DVR that cost me about the same). Despite what I've heard about Q-See products, I am very happy with this DVR.

(More customer reviews)The DVR operateswell and is straight forward to connect. The remote control on the other hand is a little bizarre when it comes to navigating through the on screen set-up. The instruction book was obviously translated from another language so it can be challenging to understand. The cameras are small and nice looking but have mediocre video quality. You won't be able to read a license plate but you can definitely see what happened to know where to look for finger prints. Not bad for a 4 camera DVR under $500.

We covered an entire 5000sf gift shop in one morning before the doors even opened.
Everything worked right out of the box, and is still working great. My only complaint is that with all the menus you can play with the customize it just for you, it would be nice to have a keyboard option... but its minor compared to the capabilities of this system.
Great at any cost level... but amazing at this price.
