you get what you pay for and you didn't pay enough for this item. take it back while you still can. avoid the purchase if possible.

(More customer reviews)I bought this player for it's Dolby 5.1 capabilities. I have a surround sound stereo system I purchased in the 90's that I wanted to run a DVD player on but all the players now have different audio cables that aren't compatible with mine since I needed the 5 seperate RCA jacks to plug into my stereo. This player has seperate jacks for front and rear left and right channels plus sub and center channels. It hooked up and played right out of the box. The player works well and I've had no issues with watching DVD's. There is good functionality built into the unit as far as making adjustments to audio and video settings. My only complaint is the supplied remote control is not really laid out very well. In the dark it's hard to find the correct buttons since they're all the same size and in a grid layout but that is really a small concern. Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase since it saved me from having to buy a whole new system to get surround sound.

Well, my nice little DVD player officially has broken on me about 6 months after purchase. I used it one day and it worked fine and then the next day it wouldn't load any DVD's. I checked and the Coby USA website says the company only offers a 90 day warranty on their electronics. I guess I am just out of luck but I should have expected this from a $30.00 machine, I suppose. Well, it worked great while it lasted. I guess I will finally have to spend a little money and upgrade my A/V system to something from this millenium - HA HA!! - my old stereo was from the mid 1990's!

(More customer reviews)Overall, I am happy with this MP3 player.I am one of those people who just resist anything cookie-cutter, "in," or normative--and I CANNOT allow myself to buy into iPods and iPhones.So, I was happy to have found this product, which has pretty good features.

It is compact, and the sound quality is very good.Also, the download process is a bit more intuitive than what I have experienced w/ iPods (which I don't own).

With this said, there are some problems.I play the piano, and I have pretty skilled fingers; yet, it is almost impossible to precisely navigate the control pad(s). This can be frustrating.

I still can't figure out some features, such as the playlist (which often skips songs for some reasons).Also, every time you turn it off, it appears to go back to song #1--which is a major inconvenience, compared to iPods, which let you pick up where you left off.Also, the battery life seems inconsistent.Sometimes, I can get through 8-hour flights w/o problems, and other times, it will shut itself off after an hour at the gym, saying the battery is dead.I don't know what contributes to these inconsistencies.It should also be noted that the sole power source comes from the USB connection.

Needless to say, the iPod docks at the gym, etc. won't accommodate this product, which is fine because I hate things that are too standardized anyhow...Also, it really doesn't have manuals, and even their online manual only gives you the bare minimum info--so, be ready to play around with it before you can figure things out.Your prior knowledge using your iPods won't help you navigate this product.

Still, I am happy with the product, especially considering the modest price tag.

(More customer reviews)I was a bit skeptical about this and have seen some poor reviews, especially about freezing, touch screen problems, durability etc.

After recieving it I must say this product does everything it promises. The Pics are snapshot quality which is fine. The video playback was surprisingly good. No problems with the touchscreen. plays music and FM fine, quality is good with headphones, onboard speaker is just what it is.

I did tell my daughter that she should treat this delicately so that it would last. there is a lot crammed into it and that means small boards and small delicate parts. If you or your child can take care of things I recommend it.

1 caveat, I didn't get a chance to use the software that came with it to convert video because my windows program told me it was not confirmed compatable with my system and would require changing some system settings at risk. I opted not to use it . It's not worth the risk and there are plenty of online converters, some free, some trial, that work well with this. ( The one I got as a trial puts a watermark on the vid except in FLV which is what I encoded Finding Nemo in, It looks awesome!

(More customer reviews)I suggest that if you plan to invest in a decent recorder this is not the one. Make sure you look for alternatives (make a list of what you want out of a player.) I intended to record my class lectures and discussions and bought it without researching (bad idea). Now I'm in the process of looking for another player.

It keeps approximately 20 hours of recording set at SP (which is lower quality). It has three settings for recording LP SP HQ. If you want higher quality recordings HQ is the highest setting but memory is sacrificed for the higher quality recording. The mic also picks up a lot of back noise. I usually sit far from the lecturer, so I find myself putting my ear next to the speakers a lot when I replay the lectures. A good feature that the recorder has is the ability to pause a recording and return back to recording with relative ease. It took a bit of figuring out the device but for the most part it is easy to use. If you're looking for a recorder for lectures, I don't recommend this product. If you're looking for a product to record upclose interviews, this would be a decent product. This product also does not have a usb connector, so if you want to keep all your recordings good luck. Battery life is alright, though I have not kept track how long it actually lasts...sorry. For a 40 dollars, I got what I payed for, but I was expecting more.

(More customer reviews)First of all--yes, I'm glad I read the other reviews before purchasing. They were exactly right--a completely worthless manual, not even worthy of trying to figure out. But for me, the use was kind of intuitive. First thing you want to do after installing the AAA battery (included) is turn the "hold" button away from the arrow; the hold button is basically a "lock" that keeps you from switching settings while it's in your pocket. Then you push the round button on the front to turn it on, and an icon menu comes up the functions that this thing performs: music, recording, playback, FM radio, or storage device. It's not that intuitive, but then, it's not completely un-intuitive either; just understand that the kind of "mousy" button on top can be pushed left or right to scroll, and then down to select. Apart from the volume button, that's about it.

It's easy to drag and drop music onto this device; just plug it into your computer and off you go. Note: this thing does NOT take MP4 music--only MP3--but if you have Itunes, it will do the conversion for you, provided that you didn't buy the music from the Itunes store. There are instructions on how to do it on the web here and there. If you only have Itunes music, you can buy conversion software. Otherwise, just stick to your MP3s.

Playback quality is very good with Apple earbuds, but is pretty bad with the included earphones. I did a little voice recording, and played it back--the playback quality was surprisingly good. The internal mike captures a lot. Will also record directly off FM, if you ever need such a thing.

Overall--for the price I paid (less than 20), a real steal. If it's much more than that, forget it. Believe it or not, I saw this exact same thing in Uganda (Africa)--it is all over the world, from China, and CHEAP. So if some USA reseller is trying to rip you off, give it a pass.

Just plan on diddling with it a while before you get the feel of how it works. If you aren't a diddler, this thing may be a bit tough to crack, so have your techno-friend who just can't let it go nearby, and s/he'll get you sorted!
