Bren1 Record Clamp Gold Edition Review

Bren1 Record Clamp Gold Edition
Average Reviews:

I own a Michell Reference Hydraulic turntable with an acrylic platter. The Michell record clamp does not fit my turntable so had been looking for a good alternative. Now that the Bren1 clamp is available in gold it is ideal for my needs - matching the platter supports. The clamp itself is very nicely engineered, and a good weight - though not too heavy. Easy to fit to the spindle with its recessed edges. Soundwise it certainly impresses - bass is deeper and tighter, and the top end sparkles that bit more as well. I didn't think a clamp would really make that much difference but I was wrong - I would highly recommend this clamp.

I love this product. It allows me to play/record records at all three speeds. You can record the whole side of a record in a single track (easiest), or record individual songs in seperate tracks. You can also play/record Tapes the same way.
It allows you to play CDs or am/fm radio as well.
I've finally gotten my old records out of storage and can play them on CDs or on my IPOD - which was the main purpose of getting this product.

Crosley Radio CR7002A-PA Troubadour Turntable (Paprika) Review

Crosley Radio CR7002A-PA Troubadour Turntable
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I searched around for one of these all-in-one entertainment
units and chose this one because it recorded with
the use of a jump drive inserted into a slot in the front.
It was very easy to use. Simply insert the jump drive,
hit "Record", and start playing the album. Worked like a charm.
From there, you can just upload the mp3 onto your computer and
burn it to CD or do whatever you like with it.

The unit looks very nice. (I bought the oak one rather than
paprika). The sound is not particulary powerful, but it's clear
and sufficient enough for casual listening. If I ever want to
crank it up, it does have external speaker outputs in the back.

The one negative aspect is the fact that the record player arm
does not return to its starting position when the album is done
playing. The album stops spinning when it reaches the end, but
the arm just stays sitting on the album. However, that's no big
deal since, once the album's done playing, I want to put it back
into the sleeve.

Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase.

I just received this item yesterday, and already found it does not work. The sound is poor, and when I tried to record a cd from a vinyl album, I found it did not work AT ALL! It records the first few seconds of the song, then skips all over the place.Very expensive piece of junk which will cost you an arm and a leg to return to whomever you buy it from!!!!!!!! (If they even take it back)
I bought it because I have a lot of vinyl that I want to put onto cd and into iTunes, but it's worthless for that.A BIG WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!!!!!!

Pyle PLTTB3U Belt Drive USB Turntable With Recording & Digital Software Review

Pyle PLTTB3U Belt Drive USB Turntable With Recording & Digital Software
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
To start I just want to mention that I had none of the problems the other reviewer had (partially thanks to them). The turntable was very easy to hook up and play. The belt was where it ought to be and the pitch slider was stationed in the center. The one oddity is that this IS a belt drive turntable, but other than Amazons recently amended product description you wouldn't know it to look at the thing. Meaning the box says it's a direct drive, as does the player itself. You can clearly see the belt under the platter though. The only other indicator is a manufactures sticker on the back that says Type: Belt Drive.

All that aside I love this turntable. This is the first turntable I have owned in years, and is certainly the nicest. I did some shopping around and decided that this would be the best deal for the quality, and I am glad I did. My old albums sound great and having the preamp included as well as the extra adjustments available is quite cool. I have yet to transfer music to my computer, but I will to be soon for a friend with some discontinued vinyl. I will update this review once I do.

I would absolutely recommend this product. It is the best quality for the price that I've found.

TEAC GF-350 Turntable / CD-Recorder Review

TEAC GF-350 Turntable / CD-Recorder
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Here's a new electronic wonder that could have been truly great, but isn't.

On the plus side, it's great looking and very easy to use. Put in an Audio CDR or Audio CDRW (it won't take blank computer discs), adjust the recording volume, push a button and voila... you have a CDR of your old favorite record album or cassette. It can automatically insert track breaks as well, but it is probably better to use the manual track break insertion method (as recommended by the instruction manual), as many original musical sources have quiet spots that can "trick" the Teac into adding one where you don't want it.

Now for the negative... as previous reviewers have stated, the playback sound is disappointment, and by this I am referring to what you get when you put your newly created CDR into your stereo system. The bass response is not adequate. This is the result of Teac chosing to use a ceramic cartridge for the tonearm. This otherwise great machine would have been better served with a magnetic cartridge. Yes, it would have cost more, but would have been worth it.

A few lesser negative points include the fact that Teac chose to include an AM/FM radio rather than a cassette player. My guess is most people would buy this machine to transcribe their old collection of LPs and cassettes that have not been received official release in compact disc format. So why the radio instead of a cassette player? You can record cassettes using the input jacks and provided cables, but you also have to "tie" the Teac to your stereo system in order to do so. Also, what's the story with having input jacks, but no output jacks? You have to listen to the records on the okay, but small speakers provided in the unit, but you cannot listen directly through your stereo system.

In summary, this is a fine machine for those who are not audiophiles. Again, it is easy to use and after a couple of "practice" recordings, you can burn CDRs as fast as it takes the records to play. But if you're expecting CD-quality results, you'll have to use the input jacks to connect to your old magnetic cartridge turntable. This could have been best electronic invention since the advent of the CD, but it falls a little short.

Product Description:
Finally, there's a way to burn vinyl to CD that doesn't require a computer or an engineering degree. With Teac's GF-350 turntable and CD recorder combo system, you simply load a blank CD-R or CD-RW, put on your LP, press "record," lower the tone arm, and press "play." You can record the entire album or simply pull select favorites from your entire collection to make your own unique compilations. Monitor your recording through the systems amplifier (3.5 watts per channel x 2) and twin 3-inch speakers, or avail yourself of the convenient front-panel .125-inch headphone jack.
The system is finished in black with a handsome woodgrain texture. Level meters and other CD feedback is visible from the system's backlit LCD. Please note that the GF-350 records only with CDs designated as "music" or "digital audio" (also CD-DA); computer-grade data CD-Rs are incompatible.
The GF-350 also offers features like automatic or manual track increment options (with 2 different level thresholds to choose from), manual record-level control, and an auxiliary set of RCA stereo analog audio inputs for recording from external sources like cassette, reel-to-reel tape, or even another CD player or MP3 player. Playback features include shuffle play, repeat play (1/all), and 32-track programming.
Tune in your favorite swing or big-band station on the rotary analog AM/FM tuner. The turntable supports 33-1/3, 45, or 78 rpm records, so you can play your entire collection--it even comes with a handy center-hole adapter for your 7-inch/45 rpm singles. A remote lets you operate everything from the comfort of your easy chair (but remember, you still have to get up to flip the records!).
What's in the Box
GF-350 system, 7-inch record adapter, a remote control, remote batteries, a user's manual, and warranty information.

I took a shot in the dark buying this without there being any other reviews, and so far I am not disappointing. Information that I couldn't find was that YES it does have speaker outputs so that you aren't restricted to the built-ins, although they sound pretty good. Recording system appears to work, unit looks great. Of all the other recording turntables, I highly recommend this one.

Ion Tape2PC USB Cassette Deck Review

Ion Tape2PC USB Cassette Deck
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Before I purchased the ION I read many articles on the Internet about how to transfer my audio cassettes to CD/iPod.I was overwhelmed by the technical terms, so I thought the ION would be the answer to my dreams:an easy, trouble-free solution.I assumed, that the ION (at it's steep price) would give me all I needed for simple, stress-free transfers.

I was wrong.The ION is a bad-investment for a number of reasons:

1.The ION is huge.
2.The software included with my ION was defective (Chinese characters appeared when I tried to load the application) -- and although the folders opened in English, they still didn't load.
3.The recording software for MAC users is available FREE on line.
4.If you have an old tape deck, or any cassette player with audio-out ports, you can go to Radio Shack (which I just did), buy a standard issue "Y" connector (1/8" stereo plug on one end and a white (male) and yellow (male) plug on the other end and (voila) you are done -- you now have precisely what the ION gives you:all for about about $15.

Believe me, I am no computer/tech genius.I'm a forty-something mom.Butbuying and plugging in the "Y" connector was super easy.

The ION merely gives you an old-fashioned, basic cassette deck, basic software (and, in the case of Audacity, something that is free from the Internet) and a USB connector (which does exactly the same thing as the $15 Radio Shack Y-connecter).

After that, you are on your own.I found the steepest learning curve was figuring out how to use the audio recording software. When I was stymied by the defective ION software, I discovered Garage Band was already on my iMac -- but I have since downloaded and use Audacity (on both my husband's PC and my iMAC).

The ION directions are so basic as to be nearly indecipherable. And as far as the Audacity software goes, the ION literature says something like:if you've never used audio recording software stick with the EZ converter software (which I believe only works on PCs).

Please also note that the ION literature doesn't tell you the next most important step you must take to make the ION work (goodness knows how any of the other reviewers were able to use their ION w/o a good working knowledge of their computer and/or audio recording. In short, you must go into your Control Panel (PC) or System Preference (MAC) and make sure you change your sound input option to in-line audio port (if using a Y-connector) or USB (if sticking with the ION).

Buyer Beware: think twice before you click to buy the ION.If you have a cassette player (or access to one) with output audio ports (most have them), you can buy the Y-connector and download the software for free.

To Amazon's credit, it appears they will refund my money and cover the cost of return shipment because of the defective software contained with the ION I purchased.
