I picked up one of these (the 1 gigabyte model) from Penney's for about $20. It was my first MP3 player. It convinced me that I like the convenience of the format for situations like working out at the gym; however, this is pretty much a piece of junk. The "manual" is written in a form of English that is not spoken anywhere in this dimension (and I'm usually pretty tolerant of non-native speakers, having taught English as a Second Language in the past.)

The cap covering the USB plug doesn't stay on: I had to wedge a piece of velcro under the cap to keep it from falling off and becoming lost. There is a plastic loop for a lanyard situated at one end between the two microplug jacks and there isn't quite enough clearance for the plug on either side, so -- over time -- the headphone plug starts to lose contact and one channel or the other cuts out. I've tried to open the player up to attempt a fix, but it doesn't look promising.

The player takes a single standard AAA battery and get probably 15 - 20 hours before needing replacement or recharging, so I will give it credit for efficiency.

If the device were sturdier, I'd recommend it whole-heartedly even with its shortcomings, but I'm ultimately disappointed in it (though persuaded that I want to replace it with another MP3 player.
