Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)I have to say from the get go that I speak with some degree of insight when I write this review.I have spent a fair amount of time testing recorders and microphones - albiet as a non-professional, and have never been so disappointed with a piece of equipment. Here's why:
1. The audio quality is very sub-par even at the highest quality setting.
2. This player records only in Panasonic's proprietary VM1 format which has to be converted into a wave file using the enclosed software (tedious compared to the drag-and-drop convenience of other PVR's)
3. The tediousness of using Panasonic's software to transfer the recordings to computer is unspeakable.
This is the equipment I use and have tested:
Sony MZR-90 Mindisc Player /Sony ECM-MS907 Microphone (used for 6 years)
Olympus, DS-2 (Tested: Audio quality is reasonable for a PVR. External microphone recording is quite good, though.)
Olympus, DM-10 (Tested: Audio quality seems to be pretty decent for buil-in mics.External microphone recording seems to be affected by a low-tone flutter.I wonder whether this is because the microphone jack doubles as the earphone output.)
Thanks for reading.
I think I'm going to get either the Olympus DM-10 or DM-20.
Update: I purchased the Edirol R09 and haven't looked back.Sony now has a similar high-end recorder that might be worth considering too.
