(More customer reviews)I am so very pleased with this device.I have the Version 2 model, which I understand is the same thing except for the updated OS that you can download from Rolland's site.Anyway, this unit is total quality; so many recording format options; ease of use; terrific fidelity and pickup sensitivity (mono and stereo); and more.I carry it everywhere and have had so many occasions to use it.And it uses just two regular AA batteries (I carry a spare set) with decent results before having to change out the batteries.

Just a few minor irks:

-It takes about 12 seconds or so to `boot-up,' but that's no big deal, really.

- When you connect to a computer to upload your data (using the supplied USB cable) everything is fine, i.e, you see the mounted disk and just drag and drop the files onto your desktop, but when you `eject' the mounted disk the Edirol screen still shows that you are transferring data.Hence, just ignore it; if the mounted disk was `ejected' on your computer, then everything is okay; just disconnect the cable and turn off the Edirol.

-Not an irk, really, but actually a plus, is that the speaker on the unit plays at a VERY low volume.I was disappointed at first, but then I realized that in order to hear it you have to place it right next to your ear (or else use a headset or ear buds connected to it) and this is for unobtrusive review of what you may have just recorded without the need to plug in a head set or ear buds.

-Yeah, price, but for the quality...

I use an older Mac mini (OS 10.5.8) and all is well.
