The still camera feature is about what you would expect from a cell phone, though the videocamera camera capability is a bit better, and certainly out-performs any cell-phone, which is a surprise for the price.

I bought it specifically as a video PLAYER, however, and it kicks butt and takes names as a player.

I have a two and a half hour commute on the train daily, and this thing has saved my sanity.I download John Stewart, Stephen Colbert and the like to the player every night, for viewing the next morning.

The only problem I have with the unit is that the software that converts the internet video files to Vivitar compatible files isn't fast; it takes about an hour to convert two and a half hours of video.However, just about any other player needs you to convert for their proprietary format, too.
